Tasting notes
It has been almost a decade since I last tasted the 2004 Auxey Duresses Blanc from Domaine d'Auvenay. For me, it is now à point but vindicates my effusive tasting note from back in 2006. Noticeably deep and golden in color, the bouquet is rounded and lightly honeyed with lanolin and beeswax scents. The palate is again, surprisingly rich for a 2004 though still maintaining admirable balance and perfectly judged acidity. It is not the most complex wines from d'Auvenay you are going to taste, yet it has aged with a certain panache. That said, I would be inclined to open bottles over the next two or three years rather than cellar for longer.

Here the wood influence is much more restrained and better integrated with lemon and herb-infused aromas that complement the relatively elegant and finely textured flavors that positively explode on the finish. This is unusually refined for a villages Auxey and recommended. Jul 2006, Drink 2011+
