Bricking in hue, Ferraton's 2011 Ermitage Les Dionnières should be consumed over the near term, as it shows evolved, roasted, meaty aromas and scents of dried fruit. Medium to full-bodied, it does boast an exceptionally captivating, silky texture that still lingers elegantly on the finish. Drink up.

Bright dark ruby. Big and bold. Lots of pepper and spice. Dry finish after masses of fruit. Hint of treacle. Serious stuff! (JR)

Bright purple. Black and blue fruits, violet and smoky Indian spices on the deeply perfumed nose. Palate-staining flavors of blackcurrant and cherry-cola flavors are energized by juicy acidity and a touch of cracked pepper. Finishes smooth, round and broad, with youthfully chewy but harmonious tannins and very good cling.

Inky purple. The bouquet evokes dark berries and cherry, complicated by notes of vanilla, spicecake and pipe tobacco. Sappy and broad but surprisingly lively, offering gently sweet cherry-vanilla and cola flavors. Soft tannins add shape to a long, sweet smoky finish with good vivacity.
