Tasting notes
The production output of the 2007 Barolo Cannubi 10 Anni is only 6,000 bottles. These units were put aside to age for an extra decade to be released as a special anniversary edition. Releasing old vintages in small batches like this is becoming an increasingly viable and popular sales approach among Barolo producers. A wine like this gives us an opportunity to appreciate the evolved qualities and elegance that Nebbiolo manages so effortlessly. Make no mistake, this is a full-throttle Barolo from a warm and powerful vintage. Yet, it shows the inner grace and finesse award with careful cellar aging.

The 2007 Barolo Cannubi shows excellent density and mid-palate sweetness. Sweet red fruit, spices, flowers and mint are some of the notes that take shape in the glass. The Cannubi is an attractive, pliant Barolo that should drink well with a minimum of cellaring. A soft, caressing finish rounds things out in style.

Barolo. Almost deep youthful looking ruby. At first creamy oak notes, needs lots of air, but palate reveals fruit sustained by acidity. Oak returns on the finish, but fruit concentration and stalky tannin keep it in check. Very good length. Modernist. (WS)
