Score 87/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2005
Good deep red. Roasted black raspberry, bitter cherry, chocolate and a whiff of tarry oak on the nose. Big, broad, rich and dry, with flavors of dark berries, licorice and tar. Began with slightly disjointed acidity but grew sweeter with aeration. Ultimately a rather gentle village wine with decent underlying structure and length.

Cask sample . Competent. Scented. Easy. Very slightly stringy, but utterly correct. A bit astringent. (JR)
