Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2001-2008, Pierre Rovani, Jun 2001
The medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Chaignots has roasted blackberry, cassis, and stone-like scents. It is dense, velvety-textured, and packed with blueberries and blackberries. This charming, sweet, supple wine also possesses an incredibly pure and soft finish. It will be at its best if drunk over the next 7 years. Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 524-1524.

Bright red-ruby. Slightly reduced aromas of redcurrant, leather and minerals. Lush and seamless in the mouth, but could use a bit more intensity and grip. Finishes with ripe tannins, though, and good persistence.
