Mid crimson with good shading at the rim. Big and beefy for a Margaux...! Lascombes?? Thick and rather New Worldy. Some people will like this but I miss the expression of Margaux. Pretty tarted up. (JR)

Dark plum/ruby, with hints of herbs, cedar, spice box, and black currants, this wine is very fine, showing good purity, sweet fruit, and nice overall balance and length. It should drink well for 10-15 years.

Blackish crimson. Very ripe nose with black fruit flavours reminiscent of ripe Merlot (53 per cent of the blend). Very round, easy and – perhaps just too – simple. Quite raw acidity. Flattering initially up to the end where the tannins are uncomfortably sandy. A rather less approachable Alter Ego than previous vintages. (JR)
