The elegant 2001's dark ruby purple color is followed by soft cherry and wild mountain berry notes intermixed with notions of earth, vanilla, and spice. The wine is a finesse-style Lalande de Pomerol that should drink well for 5-8 years. ||This 25-acre vineyard, planted in clay and gravelly soils, not totally dissimilar from those of Denis Durantou's renowned vineyard L'Eglise Clinet, is planted with 30-year-old vines consisting of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. The wine is the result of a classic vinification, much like Durantou employs at L'Eglise Clinet. It is undoubtedly a property that needs to be taken seriously. Wine Advocate.April, 2003
