Score 16/20 · Drink 2004-2011, Jancis Robinson MW, Jan 2002
This sample had just been bottled when I tasted in March 2002 and was still a mite surly and rustic on the nose. There's no shortage of substance there though. (JR)

Moderately saturated ruby-red. Aromatically pure nose of cherry, plum, licorice, leather and mace. Suave entry, then fresh and supple, with ripe, well-integrated acids giving the wine delicacy and freshness. Finishes with smooth tannins.
