Score 89/100 · Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2013

The 2009 Skeffington has an upfront, bulbous blackberry, Christmas cake and balsamic-tinged bouquet that is packed full of fruit, though is perhaps missing the finesse of its peers. The palate is powerful and rounded with plush cassis, dark plum and orange peels notes that build nicely to a grippy, spicy and clove-tinged finish. I suspect that this will be longer-lived that I originally envisaged. Tasted May 2013.

Very deep purple with a notably 'warm' nose reminiscent of raisins. Notably high volatile acidity and masses of smudgy, pruney, sweet fruit. Much more evolved than the other 2009 vintage ports in the TFP stable. Relatively light on the finish with a peppery note. Not that persistent. (JR)
