Score 87/100 · Robert Parker, Dec 1992

Last Tasted 6/92 Tasting blind, I was hard-pressed to find any Pomerol character in this wine. It exhibits extremely high acidity, a mineral, wet stone-dominated nose, and tough, hard tannins in the finish. While it is medium-bodied, with good intensity and amazingly fresh fruit, its austerity and surprisingly high acid levels give the wine a compact, rough texture on the palate. I suspect the wine could benefit from more cellaring - as hard as that is to believe.

Château Trotanoy was one of the first recognised Premier Cru sites on the Pomerol plateau, with records dating back to the late 1700s. Even back in the nineteenth century it was seen as the best site in Pomerol second only to Vieux Château Certan.
