The 1983 Chateau Gilette Creme de Tete has a light resinous bouquet: dried honey, yellow flowers and a touch of toffee. The palate is a little severe on the entry. Light and viscous with sharp acidity, very spicy toward the second half with strong oxidative notes that lend it a Tokaji-like personality. This does not quite have the harmony or cohesion as the 1979 Gilette, and is difficult to really enjoy at the moment. Drink now-2018. Tasted March 2014. Jun 2014, www.robertparker.com

About the producer

Gilette
Ch. Gilette is a unique Sauternes estate, crafting sweet wines that are like no other – aged in concrete tank for 20 years prior to release. Rare and highly collectable, the wines rival those of Ch. d’Yquem.
