As for the luxury cuvée (100% Merlot that tips the scales at 14.5% alcohol), the 2005 Le Plus is first-growth quality! Hubert de Boüard has nailed a home run with this inky purple wine, which has an extraordinary, concentrated nose of white chocolate, black cherry liqueur and cassis, as well as nuances of incense and flowers in a full-bodied, massively rich, full-throttle style. This wine is well beyond anything Lalande de Pomerol is capable of producing, and a credit to proprietor Hubert de Boüard. Drink it over the next 25-30 years, and keep in mind that it probably still needs another 5-10 years of cellaring, even though it’s already a decade old.

(108 IPT!) Deep ruby-red. Explosive aromas of black cherry, redcurrant and licorice. Palate offers compelling sweetness of black raspberry and dark cherry fruit, complicated by mineral and lead pencil notes. A huge wine for its Lalande de Pomerol appellation but with very good flavor definition. Finishes with big but lush tannins and penetrating sweetness. Very impressive.
(100% merlot) Good full ruby color. Pure but discreet aromas of black fruits, minerals and licorice. Then understated and backward on the palate, and not at all overly sweet. But penetrating minerality gives this wine greater finesse than usual and an attractive light touch. Wonderfully delineated, vibrant wine, mounting slowly and impressively on the back end, with the tannins arriving quite late. Today this barely hints at its 14% alcohol.
