Score 79/100 · Drink 1988, Robert Parker, Jan 1998

The 1973 Ducru is certainly one of the best wines of this watery vintage. It drank well for 15 years before beginning to fade. Holding it any longer would be senseless. The 1973 Ducru was fully mature by 1978, but miraculously retained its fruit until 1988. It has just begun to fade. Drink up. Anticipated maturity: Now-probably in serious decline. Last tasted, 12/88.
