Tasting notes
Revello's 1996 Barolo is austere and tannic, with limited depth. Sadly, the 1996 never really found its balance. At the time, the straight Barolo included grapes from Gattera, a site that became a vineyard designate in 1999.

The 1996 Barolo offers a tangy, black cherry-scented nose with hints of smoke, earth, and leather. Spicy, medium-bodied, and moderately tannic, it is structured and muscular. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2008. A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300, Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel. Saturated deep red. Black cherry, licorice and menthol on the nose. Rather powerful, even slightly tough, in the mouth, especially for a wine from La Morra. Finishes with strong, firm tannins.
