Score 92/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous
The 2001 Barolo is rich, dark and seductive. Flowers, sweet herbs, licorice, tar and plums are some of the many notes that emerge from this deep, fleshy Barolo. The 2001 possesses tons of vibrancy and muscle, along with the sheer stuffing to drink well for another decade. Once again, Pio Cesare’s straight Barolo is an overachiever that seldom gets the recognition it deserves. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. Apr 2012, www.robertparker.com
