Tasting notes
The 2000 Barolo has a very classic feel to it. Hints of rose petal, spices, licorice, and tobacco lead to red cherries and flowers in this delicate, subtle wine. The fruit unfolds beautifully through the mid-palate and finish. This is an impressive, totally delicious Barolo.

The fruit unfolds beautifully through the mid-palate and finish. This is an impressive, totally delicious Barolo. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2020. Pio Cesare’s 2000s have matured gracefully, although they appear to have limited upside from here.
Full, deep red. Vibrant aromas of raspberry, smoke and underbrush; as with the 2001s, this comes across as more primary than the Barbaresco. Fat, dense and backward, with a layered texture and superb acidity for the vintage. Not at all a jammy style of 2000; in fact, this seems distinctly cool and aristocratic. The huge, rising finish features big, ripe tannins and powerful, brooding fruit.
