Score 87-88/100 · David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Jun 2007
From a tiny and little-known cru just north of Fremiers and below Rugiens and Chaponnieres, the Courcel 2005 Pommard Croix Noires combines bitter-sweet candied black cherry with high-toned maraschino aromatics. Intensely fruited and salty in the mouth but without any superficial sweetness, its substantial finish is marked by somewhat coarse tannins that one hopes are only temporarily obtrusive.
