Tasting notes
Medium red. Fresh aromas of cherry, tobacco, marzipan and chestnut, plus a hint of older wood. Then quite young, even a bit youthfully aggressive, in the mouth, with more oak showing than in the Bernadot. Tannins build on the back. (Incidentally, the 2007 Barbarescos had not yet been bottled at the time of my September visit.)

The 2006 Barbaresco Bricco Asili opens with a gorgeous bouquet of sweet roses, raspberries and spices that meld seamlessly into a core of super-ripe fruit. Soft and generous on the palate, the Bricco Asili reveals lovely length and a generous, enveloping finish. The tannins are quite soft in the 2006, which leads me to believe the wine will drink nicely with a minimum of cellaring.

This is a pretty set of 2006 Barbarescos from Ceretto. The wines show excellent textural softness and beautiful integration of tannins. All of these wines improved markedly with air.
