Tasting notes
A Bordeaux lover's wine, all finesse. Fabulous aromas of violets, cherry, and rasberry, with a hint of oak. Medium-to full-bodied, with supersilky tannins and a long, ripe fruit finish. Wonderful now, better in 1999. James Suckling,Wine Spectator1997

A dark ruby-colored wine with an opaque garnet middle, the 1994 Magdelaine offers copious quantities of jammy black-cherry fruit. Medium-bodied and elegant, with fine purity, this well-balanced, luscious, tannic wine should provide stylish, savory drinking for 16+ years. Given Magdelaine's tendency, in spite of its high percentage of Merlot, to close down after bottling, I was surprised by how showy and flashy this wine was tasting. Anticipated maturity: 1999-2015.
