Score 80/100 · Robert Parker
Here is an example of a wine that had a lovely, perfumed, soft, berry bouquet, and moderately intense flavors, yet because of extensive oak aging, now tastes hard, astringent, tannic, and deficient in fruit. The color is very sound, the bouquet suggests vanillin, woodsy aromas, but on the palate, the wine is unyielding and ungenerous. Perhaps time will unleash the fruit. Anticipated maturity: Now-2000. Last tasted, 3/87. Jan 1998, www.robertparker.com
