Score 89-92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous
Red-ruby. Precise aromas of currant, minerals and smoke, plus a gamey hint of reduction. Juicy currant and spice flavors supported by sound acidity. Finishes long and ripely tannic. Quite stylish and successful for this wine, which was the lowest in potential alcohol among the '98 Leroy wines, at 12.3%.
