Tasting notes
Dark and woodsy, the 2006 Brunello di Montalcino smolders with a mature bouquet of cedar, underbrush, tobacco and cherry sauce. It’s juicy with fresh acidity, but a slightly dank mineral resonance lingers on the short finish. The 2006 Renieri has seen its best days.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a relatively simple, straightforward wine with good balance in its dark fruit. It shows lovely length and polish in an approachable, understated style best suited to near-term enjoyment. The weight of the fruit carries through nicely to the finish. Underbrush, tobacco and spices add layers of complexity and nuance.

Crimson centre, rim just starting to show some orange. Sweet nose with hints of tobacco and bell pepper. Sweet and slightly herbal too on the palate. Strange juxtaposition of very ripe fruit and herbal, almost vegetal aromas. Drying tannins. (WS)
