Mid ruby with a pale rim. Light leaf-mould nose. Warm palate entry and then some real zing and refreshment. Tannins pretty well covered but then in abundance. (JR)

The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Friggiali opens to a medium build and ripe aromas of cherry preserves and crème de cassis. The quality of fruit does seem very ripe. The wine offers less in terms of complexity with simple tones of spice and dark leather that wrap easily around the palate. The persistency and textural richness are both moderate in intensity. This one of the easier and slimmed down interpretations of Brunello I encountered in the 2010 vintage.

Just mid ruby with broad orange rim. Pronounced nose of leather and spice. Taut, lively sweet sour cherry with almost salty notes on the finish. Gripping ripe tannins, and very long. Still a little unpolished, but with plenty of potential for further ageing. (WS)
