The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino entices with a lovely blend of fresh black cherries, sweet spice and hints of licorice. It feels soft-textured, pliant and impossibly youthful, with juicy acidity and fresh red berry fruits swirling throughout. A gentle mineral tinge and rose tones linger through the medium-length finale, where fine tannins still reside. The 2004 has matured remarkably well. It isn't the most complex Brunello yet provides a ton of satisfaction. If I were sitting on a case of this, I’d be smiling from ear to ear.

Dried dark-berry, earth, dried-mushroom and cedar aromas deliver a mature and attractive impression. The tannins are fine and soft and thereâs good depth of blue-fruit flavor in a mid-weight frame. Drink now.
Dark, somewhat lacklustre ruby. Developed leathery fruit at first, with aeration more depth. Concentrated sweet fruit with acidic play giving tension to the palate. Slightly rustic, but not coarse, tannins. Very nice, multilayered length. (WS)
Bright dark red with ruby tones. Sweet dark berry and cherry aromas complicated by clove and chocolate. Supple and ripe in the middle, then turns a bit dry on the back, showing lingering fresh red fruits but somewhat granular tannins.
