Good red-ruby. Very ripe aromas of cassis, licorice and coconutty oak. Sweet, dense and intense, with flavors of raspberry, currant and chocolate. Not yet especially complex but the wine's ripe tannins and excellent length suggest it will reward four or five years of patience.

Some French oak obvious on the nose – a bit disconcerting – and some strong, stern tannins dominating what was obviously good quality ripe fruit. By no means harmonious at the moment! (JR)
