Poured at a retrospective tasting going back to 1999 held in NYC. Aged 36 months. Dark bricky red. This needs time in the glass; it transforms from a hard, dark, camphor-scented, tannic wine to something much more inviting: chocolate, cherry, hazelnut, everything lifting, becoming as much fragrance as it is flavour. Elegant. Lasting. (TQT)

Relatively pale with a brick rim. Sweet, tarty oak. Smells of the dressing table (cheap scent and talcum powder). All make-up. American oaky. (JR)
