Tasting notes
The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Il Poggiolo is the most structured and powerful of these 2007 Brunelli from Rodolfo Cosimi. It possesses plenty of length and energy. With time in the glass the tannins begin to soften and the fruit emerges. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries, leather, licorice and tobacco wrap around the powerful, structured finish. This is a terrific showing.

Deep ruby with orange tinges. Closed and brooding. Sweet fruit core, but immediately closes up again. Lingering finish and good balance. Grows on you. Quite full bodied.
Plum pie and incense turns to raspberries and flowers. Wonderful nose. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a fresh finish. Such balance and beauty. Why wait? But better in 2015.
