Score 94/100 · Drink 2026-2032, Eric Guido, Vinous, Feb 2026

The 2006 Lisini Brunello di Montalcino wafts up with a classic blend of pipe tobacco, worn leather, crushed violets and dried strawberries, elevated by a whiff of sweet smoke. It feels cool on the senses, displaying remarkable lift and grace, as a silken wave of ripe wild berry fruit coasts across the palate, contrasted by nuances of citrus and tactile mineral saturation toward the close. More of a whisper than a shout, yet wonderfully complex, the 2006 leaves nuances of mint and blood orange as it tapers off with excellent length. It is overdelivering today, yet with a balance that will carry for many years in the cellar.

Good deep red. Aromas of crushed cherry, minerals and pungent smoke. Intense red berry and spice flavors are framed by strong but integrated acidity. Not at all overly sweet but broad, rich and concentrated. Classy, floral sangiovese with superb energy and lift, and the structure to support a slow and graceful evolution in bottle.

Score 91/100 · Drink 2013-2020, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2011

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is surprisingly dark and heavy in this vintage. Black fruit, leather, licorice and spices are some of the nuances that emerge from the glass. As delicious as this is, the typical Lisini pedigree and elegance doesn't come through to the extent it usually does. Ultimately the 2006 Brunello is a rather ponderous wine from this historic property.
