Score 89/100 · Drink 2005-2014, Daniel Thomases, Wine Advocate, Apr 2005
The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino is the best in years, dark garnet with a full and varied nose of red fruit, leather, and game, a sizeable palate, structured but round and with attractive sensations of liquorice and minerals on its sweet and polished close. Drink: 2005-2014. Importer: Wine Wave, Jericho, NY; tel. (516) 433-1121

Bright ruby-red. Fairly primary aromas of dark berries, plum, smoked meat and menthol. Sweet, primary and backward, with medicinal flavors of inky dark berries and geranium. A brooding young Brunello, finishing with firm tannins that turned a bit tough with aeration. Ripe but uncompromisingly dry.
