Excellent dense, bright color. Fabulous nose combines black raspberry, toffee, minerals and a whiff of game. Quintessential ripe-but-not-overripe merlot: rich, layered, deep, and long on character. Really a sensational showing for a wine tasted sur colle. Very long, smooth finish, with urbane tannins and a faint suggestion of herbs. The '94 vintage doesn't get much better than this.
