A sweet, slightly exotic nose. The palate is very rich with just a touch of alcohol showing and the long, dry finish is most impressive.

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 La Providence springs from the glass with raspberry pie, blackberry compote and kirsch scents followed by suggestions of dark chocolate and tilled soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a racy line of freshness and chewy tannins supporting the muscular fruit, finishing a tad tart and rustic.

Tasted blind. Deep smudgy and browning garnet. Toasty, biscuit-like aroma. Still very oaky on the palate, sweet and rounded and the acidity quite marked on the finish. Harsh overall. (JH)

Very straightforward, without nuance. Lots of chew and acidity. (JR)
