1997 Coteaux du Layon

Nose initially dominated by celery, mint and ginger, but showed flamboyant peach, apricot and mango fruitiness as it opened in the glass. A fruit bomb in the mouth: supple, sappy and delicious, with ripe acids and no hint of earthy chenin low notes. Fairly sweet but not at all viscous. Gulpable and persistent. Terrific value.
