Score 92/100 · Drink 2007-2019, Pierre Rovani, Dec 2002

Loewen's 2001 Riesling Eiswein Leiwener Klostergarten comes across more like a big Auslese than an Eiswein. Its floral aromas lead to a medium-bodied character filled with red fruits, slate, and candied limes. Lush, thick, and dense, it doesn't have the raciness typical of Eisweins. Drink this concentrated, powerful offering between 2007 and 2019. Importer: Terry Theise Estate Selections, imported by Michael Skurnik Wines, Inc., Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300

Dramatically concentrated. Sweet but lots of tension there. Very intense. A prima donna of a wine. (JR)
