Tasting notes
Deep crimson with evolved rim. Concentrated, powerful, vigorous. Very sweet start and not that much tannin still in evidence though the right amount of acidity. Correct without being exciting. (JR)

My experience with Smith-Woodhouse is limited. I was impressed with the 1980, which showed a lovely, supple, ripe, rich, fruity character in an early-maturing style.
Tight, hard and closed, but extremely good for a '80. Medium to deep ruby, with wonderful perfumed berry aromas, full-bodied, very tannic, with lots of grapy flavors. Still closed. – James Suckling , Wine Spectator 1989
