The 2007 Duo de Conseillante has a mature but not over the hill bouquet of loose-knit, red fruit laced with autumn leaves/woodland scents. The palate shows its age, frayed at the seams with vestiges of red fruit, simple and cedar-tinged, attenuating to a dry point at the finish. Drink up. Tasted at La Conseillante vertical at the property.

The new second wine of La Conseillante. 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Bright crimson. Very fresh nose as though there is some Cabernet Franc in here. Gentle palate attack – very round and supple. Another very attractive second wine from Pomerol (see Blason d’Évangile). Slightly dry on the finish. Very polished tannins. (JR)
