Tasting notes
The 2012 Grand Corbin-Despagne opens with a good burst of energy. That initial promise recedes on the mid-palate and finish, where the wine lacks depth. The flavors are also a bit forward, all of which suggests the 2012 is best enjoyed sooner rather than later, before the fruit dries out too much further.

Typical of this wine from François Despagne, it is dense ruby/purple, very masculine, powerful, virile, with loads of tannin, huge extract and a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel. The wine is rich, pure and will repay cellaring of 8-15 or more years. This is a sleeper of the vintage.
