Tasting notes
This is one of the few 2009s that performed less impressively from bottle than from barrel. (In most cases, as great as they were from barrel, the wines were even more profound from bottle.) This wine seems to be very much in the style of a 2005, with very high levels of worrisome tannin, a dense purple color and some real meat and concentration, but the tannins are austere and astringent. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025?

Very concentrated. Heady nose. Dry finish. A hint of tarmacadam. Actually relatively supple. Great effort has been made to soften the tannins. Just not very complete. But certainly ambitious. (JR)
Zesty, fragrant, harmonious. Delicious red berry fruit. Smooth, suave texture. Tannins long and refined. Drink 2015-2025
Blueberry and raspberry aromas, with hints of flowers. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a medium finish
