Score 89/100 · Robert Parker, Jan 1990
I thought the Grands Echezeaux was just as concentrated yet more closed and less exotic than the Clos Vougeot. It will probably be an outstanding wine in several years, but for now it is excellent, quite rich, highly extracted, and another top success for the 1987 vintage. It would appear that the entire Gros family has done something special in the 1987 vintage. The 1987s of this cellar are essentially equal in quality to the more highly applauded 1988s.
