Three reds from DRC follow. All are thrilling to taste, but for different reasons. As good as the wines in this flight are, they are all at peak, if not slightly past. The 1969 Grands-Echézeaux presents a sweet, almost candied profile. Blood orange, pomegranate and crushed flowers are laced into the expressive finish. There is lovely immediacy to the 1969, a wine that is quite pretty, but also fully mature.
