2004 Shiraz Jester

Ruby-red. Suave, fresh and spicy on the nose, with bright red berry and cherry preserve aromas accented by subtle black pepper and baking spices. Fleshy and silky but nicely firmed by juicy acidity. The red fruit flavors take on depth with air, showing a note of blackberry on the finish. Finishes supple and long, with a light touch to the lush berry flavors.

Flowery, blueberry, and raspberry-like notes cascade from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-tinged Shiraz. Elegant and medium-bodied, with hints of minerals, flowers, and blue as well as red fruits, it tastes like a Shiraz made with a Pinot Noir-like sensitivity. Great dark color and completely opaque. Nice nose of ripe fruit, coffee and chocolate. Palate had lots of acidity though and the first glass almost seemed slightly carbonated. Second and Third glass were better. Full bodied and very nice. Still a little clunky and the acidity is a little off-putting but excellent none the less.
