1998 Nuits St Georges Les Vaucrains

Deep ruby-red. Inky aromas of blackberry, cassis, black cherry, licorice and spice cake, with some new oak showing, as well as a faint roasted aspect. Huge and expansive on the palate, with pliant texture, compelling inner-mouth perfume, and explosive finishing fruit. A big, rich wine, finishing with substantial but spreading tannins. Seemed to shut down in the glass. One of the best wines I've yet tasted from this estate.
