Deep red. Sweet aromas of cherry, nutmeg and chocolate. Distinctly creamier in the middle than the regular village example, with impressively sweet, very fresh flavors of red cherry, raspberry and strawberry. A fruit bomb of a 2001, but with solid underlying structure.

(racked ten days before my visit) Good saturated, deep red. Black cherry, licorice, mint and flowers on the nose, along with some tarry oak. Juicy, intensely flavored and penetrating, with firm acids giving it serious spine. Finishes bright, structured and long. If this absorbs its new oak component, it will merit a score at the high end of my projected range.
