Tasting notes
Full ruby-red. Blackberry liqueur, violet and licorice on the nose. Tightly wound and quite backward, hiding more than it's showing today. I don't find the juicy personality or sweetness this wine displayed in barrel. As closed as it is, though, it's not dry. Judgment deferred.

Ruby-red. Restrained aromas of dark berries and bitter chocolate. Then juicy and spicy in the mouth, with blackberry and licorice flavors showing very good lift and energy. A distinct sweetness contributes roundness. Already displays a lot of personality.
Hints of oak spice frame exuberant and very ripe red and black small berry fruit nuanced with violets, cassis and game. This is a dense, earthy and structured wine that is not especially elegant but the long, sappy and mouth coating finish is quite seductive.Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 01 2006.
