Tasting notes
Mid ruby. Some damp autumn undergrowth on the nose. Quite firm and dense. Not exactly a charmer! The 2006s seem a bit severe at the moment. (JR)

Since 2003, Alexandrine Roy has as the fourth generation direct this roughly ten acre domaine (named for her father). A 2006 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur – her sole wine that I tasted, as a sample – bespeaks considerable promise. A nose of ripe, fresh cherry, cranberry, and candied orange zest leads to a juicy, lively, well-concentrated palate impression, tinged with cardamom, cherry pit bitterness, and subtle suggestions of caramel and toasted coconut from the barrel. The fruit takes a darker turn in the finish, but there is still plenty of vivacity and lift as well as sheer length. This is a classic example of an immediately delicious 2006, although it will not doubt merit following for at least 4-5 years. Importer: Joli Vin Imports, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 849-9861
Scented, rich nose. Bit too solid for transports of delight but workman-like. (Very different from how it tasted five days later chez Flint!) (JR)
