First bottle: Darker than the 2002(!). Healthy ruby. Intriguing mossy nose with real lift and zest on the palate. Transparent and ready already but with much more to come than the previous 2000 – Dujac Combottes – showed. In fact one of the more youthful 2000s I have encountered. Second bottle: Definitely much fruitier – really rather exciting! (JR)

Fresh black cherries are found in the nose of the medium to dark ruby-colored 2000 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses. Medium-bodied, it reveals outstanding depth of fruit, a lively personality, appealing raspberry, strawberry, rose, and cherry flavors, and a slightly compressed finish. Drink it over the next 6 years. Importer: Diageo Chateau and Estate Wines Company, New York, NY; tel; (212) 572-7725
