Light ruby with a blackish tange. Sweet mentholated start – chaptalisation? Pretty ungainly and gawky. Metallic, tough. A bit hollow. Somehow engineered rather than grown. (JR)

This wine's color is a medium dark garnet with noticeable rust/amber at the edge. The innocuous bouquet offers a whiff of melted road tar, pepper, and stale coffee filters. The wine reveals soft, herbal, cherry fruit that quickly fades to reveal some acidity, light tannin, and not much body or finish. This wine is drying out and becoming more compact and attenuated. It needs to be drunk up. Last tasted 5/96.
