Showing far better than any bottles from my cellar, the dark plum/garnet-colored 1976 La Chapelle reveals considerable amber at the edge. A sweet attack offers spice box, fruit cake, dried herb, licorice, ginger, and currant aromas. While there is some herbaceousness, the wine reveals a creamy richness as well as a fully mature, medium to full-bodied, glycerin-imbued mid-palate and finish. The 1976 requires consumption over the next 6-7 years. Jun 2000, www.robertparker.com
