Tasted blind. Dramatic dark crimson. Warm, round, integrated and friendly on the nose. Sap and toastiness without obvious oak. Spicy with some vigour and a bit of structure. Good drive and length. (JR)

The 2012 Clos des Jacobins is an opulent, seamless Saint-Emilion made in a distinctly dark, ripe style that is probably best appreciated sooner rather than later. Plum, blackberry, menthol, licorice and spice notes are some of the signatures. The 2012 is not especially subtle, but there is no shortage of raciness.

A sexy, lush style of St.-Emilion, this medium-bodied wine offers up ripe tannins, dark cherry, graphite and forest notes, an opaque ruby/purple color, good spice and an attractive earthiness. It can be drunk now or cellared for 10-12 years.
