Pure, complex, rather steely nose melds lemon, butter and minerals. Crisp, bright and pure, with lovely lemony fruit offering a restrained sweetness. Very firm, persistent chardonnay with excellent depth. This fermented until July, with the malolactic fermentation finishing in September of 2002, noted winemaker Ted Lemon, who bottled all his 2001 chardonnays in early February of this year, later than usual.
