Score 89+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jul 2004

Pale, bright color. Leesy aromas of lemon, orange, butter, spices and smoke; rather Meursault-like. Then dense, sappy and concentrated but quite dry, even a bit youthfully austere. Hints of pineapple, grapefruit and orange, complicated by dusty thyme and sage. Oily but not at all syrupy. Offers impressive mid-palate energy for Australian chardonnay and finishes with an edge of acidity. But this is still a bit youthfully disjointed, with its sweetness and fruit still rather withdrawn.
